Wallets for a decentralized crypto casino: MetaMask, Rabby, Solana wallets and smart accounts
Chains and wallets · sign-in
There are four ways into a decentralized crypto casino today: a browser or mobile EVM wallet, a Solana wallet, an email or social login that creates a wallet you control, and an email account where the platform holds the wallet. Only the first three keep custody with you.
The wallet is where a decentralized crypto casino begins and ends: sign-in, every bet, every payout. Which wallet you use decides which chains you can reach and how much you have to click. More importantly, how you sign in decides who holds the money. Two sign-up screens can look identical and put your funds in very different places.
Four ways in
| How you sign in | Who holds the funds | Where it's offered |
|---|---|---|
| EVM wallet (browser or mobile) | You | Overtime, Bookmaker.xyz, SX Bet, Dexsport, on their EVM chains |
| Solana wallet | You | Gamba-based sites, Dexsport |
| Email or social login that creates a smart account or wallet | You | Overtime Account, SX Bet via Magic |
| Email account with a platform-held wallet or escrow | The platform, or an escrow reached through the account | Dexsport (email/Telegram), JustBet |
EVM wallets
An EVM wallet works on every Ethereum-based chain: Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, Gnosis, BNB Chain, SX Rollup and the rest. SX Bet names MetaMask and Rabby in its docs; the other EVM platforms accept standard wallets on the chains they support. One wallet, many chains: switch the network in the wallet and the same address works on each.
Two settings worth changing before you bet. Turn on the display of full transaction details, so you see the contract and amount before you sign. And, if your wallet offers it, turn on warnings for unlimited token approvals.
Solana wallets
Solana uses a different address format and a different signing system, so it needs a Solana wallet. Gamba's protocol runs there; sites built on it connect the Solana wallets their front-end supports. If you hold funds on both Solana and an EVM chain, you'll use two wallets, and that's normal.
Smart accounts and email wallets
Some platforms let you in with a social account or an email, without installing anything, and still leave custody with you.
Overtime Account is a smart account you open with a social login. There is no extension to install, and the funds remain yours.
SX Bet via Magic creates a wallet from your email or Google login and gives it a proxy wallet contract on SX Rollup. Same exchange, same custody, no extension.
These are the best option for people who find browser wallets fiddly. Write down any recovery method they give you: losing access to the email can mean losing access to the wallet.
Email accounts that hold funds
Dexsport offers both paths. Connect a Web3 wallet and you keep custody. Sign up by email or Telegram and you get an internal wallet held by Dexsport. The site looks the same either way, which is why it's worth choosing deliberately.
JustBet signs you up by email or social login. Your balance sits in an on-chain escrow on Arbitrum, and USDC deposits are swapped into the WINR chip. It is on-chain underneath and an account on the surface.
Mobile
Most mobile wallets have a built-in browser. Open the platform inside it and it connects without an extension. Keep the platform as a bookmark in that browser rather than following links from chats. Tap into transaction details before you confirm; a phone screen hides more of them.
What to set up before your first bet
- A separate betting wallet, even if it's just a second account in the same wallet app.
- The gas coin for your chain: ETH on Arbitrum, Base and Optimism, POL on Polygon, SOL on Solana, SX on SX Rollup.
- Your recovery phrase on paper, never typed into a website.
- Exact approvals when a site asks to spend your tokens; more on safe play with a wallet.
Which chains each platform runs on is on casinos by chain. The wallet check is one of five in the decentralized crypto casino ranking; the others are explained in how we score.
